Your opinion is uniquely yours.  Standout from your competition by providing an honest reflection of your opinion.  It’s now quite common to use social media, in its various forms, as a way to market a business. Few, however, give their honest opinion about matters relating to their industry when using such media. Customers have learned to expect PC verbiage (politically correct) or peppy references designed to sell something.

Want to differentiate yourself from the competition?  Give an honest opinion.  It is a really good way to differentiate yourself from your competitor.

Express your opinion when important market trends happen or products become available. You will be surprised how much your customers will value your opinion and look to you in the future. Doing so positions you as a leader. People will often assert you as an industry expert where you provide a thorough analysis of your thoughts.

Do avoid being negative. Having an opinion, whether for or against an issue, does not mean you are negative. So, you need not fall into the trap of negativity. To some, opinionated = negativity but it’s about positioning. Be creative and thoughtful. If you can be optimistic where your position may be perceived as negative this will help to uplift and not  overwhelm.

Once you do this, expect people to want more and be prepared to supply them with great ideas and communication. Positive, solution-based content can easily become invaluable. There is nothing like others knowing they have a trusted resource they can rely on to provide honest, transparent data. When you always have the best interest of the reader/listener in mind, it helps others to view you as ‘the’ guy.
